Top Tips for Practicing Music at Home

Ever had that one day when you just don't feel like practicing? (Ok, more than one day.) Or the time when you set yourself to a 'long, hard, practice' - and find that within 5 minutes you are bored and just fiddling around with your instrument anyway? Stay tuned - these top tips will have you practicing like a pro in no time at all!

1. Set Goals for your Practice Time

Be it 15 minutes, 30 minutes, or 1 hour, setting a goal for your practice time will help keep you on track and make a hard practice seem less stressful. Time yourself using a watch, phone, or clock - you'll find the minutes will fly by!

2. Record Yourself

I recommend recording yourself at least once a week. Not only will you be able to notice the areas you need to practice more, but you will continue to hear yourself improve with time.

3. Keep a Practice Log

Keep yourself accountable with a simple practice log.

4. Remember that practicing is NOT just about playing through your music

5. Have Fun!

Reward yourself for each successful practice session! Have fun playing your instrument and growing in your musical ability.
